I make crafts. I geek out. Sometimes, I geek out about making crafts.

Week 26: Vex Destroyer

Happy Monday!

I hope this last week of March finds you all well. I’ve been battling allergies all week, you know, sneezing and realizing how much you took breathing normally for granted — yay spring? (Actually, I love spring — the longer days, the green trees and the flowers everywhere.)

Anyway, this week’s emblem is Vex Destroyer which will make you Titan fans happy. Don’t worry Warlocks and Hunters, your turn will be coming up in the next few weeks. The colors you need are: 453, 611, 3021, and 3799 (I used 3787, but it’s one of those exclusive colors so 3799 is much easier to find, and since it’s been used in a previous emblem, you should already have it on hand.)

Now I’m off to catch up with last week’s emblem and work on this week’s emblem. Emblems everywhere! Honestly, I don’t know what I’m going to do with my crafting time in September when this is all over. Probably more emblems, ROFL

If you have any questions, please drop me a line. And, as always, be sure to check out the #destiny2cal hashtag on your social media platform of choice.

Happy Crafting,
Jess 😀 😀

Week 12: Jade Rabbit Redux

Week 11: Make Us Proud

Happy Monday!

Another week, another emblem that I’m scrambling to finish, LOL. I keep telling myself that after the holidays that everything will settle down and I’ll have time to work on these well in advance, but we know that I’ll be procrastinating until week 48. This week’s emblem is Make Us Proud and I hope you like blues, because you’ll be spending a lot of time with that color for this emblem.

This week you’ll need white (or B5200), 334, 797, 825, and 3755. Or you know, four distinct shades of blue. Like I said, lots and lots of blue.

Download the chart

Regarding the color list for the upcoming emblems, I’m going to try to get a color list for the next few emblems (still waiting on the Dawning emblems, but at least I have the latest emblems from Curse of Osiris to work with) out by Wed or Thursday.

As always, please be sure to check out the #destiny2cal hashtag on your social media of choice. Next week we will reach the 12th(!) emblem which means we are almost one quarter of the way done. Seriously, where has the time gone? (Maybe it’s just the end of the year and I’m feeling like dude, how is it already the end of 2017?)

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.

Happy Crafting,
Jess

Week 10: New Pacific Access

Happy Monday!

Sometimes (ok, most of the time) I feel like I’m running behind on the emblems and I’m making absolutely no progress on this crazy year-long project. Other times, like now, I look at my aida cloth and realize that we are already at week 10. Week 48 will be here before we know it.

So, this week is New Pacific Access, or as I call it, an emblem that I actually have, LOL. The color scheme is fairly simple (I hope y’all have plenty of black): you’ll need 310 and 321. I used 666 here because I’m making a bunch of Santa Marios so, er, yeah. That (or any other red) totally works as a replacement color.

Download the chart

As some of you know, the Curse of Osiris is coming out this week and the Dawning (I think) will be starting next week. So, especially in the case of the Dawning because it’s a timed event, any emblems that are released (and that I want to make) will be pushed to the front of the list. I know having a color list is convenient, so, I will do my best to get it to you as quickly as possible (probably week 13, after the Dawning emblems, if there are any, are revealed).

(And yes, I really do stitch upside down sometimes.)

I know this is a busy time of year, but be sure to check out the #destiny2cal hashtag on your social media of choice. And you have found that you are a little behind, please, don’t stress. This craft-a-long will be here, waiting for you when you have time and/or energy. ❤

Also, if you are using the tinyletter.com/CraftingGeek/archive link to access the previous emblems, please be aware there are two pages now (the link to second page is at the bottom of the screen). I know there were a few people last week who couldn’t find them so I wanted to clarify that.

Now I’m off to stitch these Dawning snowflakes (I’m telling you, slowest. project. ever.)

Happy crafting,
Jess 😀 😀

Week 9: Take the Throne

Happy Monday!

I know some of you are probably recovering from the weekend of shopping ALL THE DEALS or stuffing yourself with some turkey. (I managed to show some restraint on both fronts.) But now it’s time to move onto more crafty things! This week’s emblem is Take the Throne.

For those of you who are brave and talented enough to go through a raid, awesome for you. That is NOT for me. I’m much more of a “let’s go on patrol and punch some bad guys in the face” kind of person. Speaking of wanting to punch things, let’s talk about the colors for this pattern, shall we?

When I made this pattern in my program originally, the colors they suggested were 791 and 3746. But, once I pulled the colors, I realized that 791 is not purple, but blue. Cue me frantically going through every single color of purple DMC has made. And as I looked, I discovered that most of them were just too much on the red side.

I could go on and on (and on) about my angst, but I’ll try to spare you. Long story short, the colors I used were 550, 3746, and 833. 550 was NOT on the original list because my program tricked me. (Some times it’s really hard to see how a color looks on the screen compared to real life.) It’s not perfect — but I spent the better part of last week stressing about it and have to let it go at some point.

However, if you don’t have 550 kicking around, some alternatives are 3887, (This purple only comes in the 2013 “new colors” multi-pack as far as I can tell. It is definitely more subtle than the 550, but if it was widely available, it would have been the color I would have chosen for the emblem.), or 327 (it’s a lot lighter than 550), or if you’re really feeling adventurous and don’t necessarily care about the swirl looking the way it is in the chart and just want some variation in the background, you can use variegated color 52 (if I was signed up for this as opposed to making the “official” pattern, I would be tempted to do this because I’m a sucker for variegated thread).

And with that, we are halfway done with row two, if you’re doing the original pattern. You guys continue to amaze me with your enthusiasm and crafting skills! I mean, I know this can be a busy time of year — especially if you or your loved ones are in the retail jungle — but I always love and adore visiting the #destiny2cal hashtag.

Week 8: Ace of Spades

Happy Monday!

This week’s emblem is the Ace of Spades. I don’t know how anyone was able to guess what this week’s emblem was going to be, but there were a couple of awesome people who actually managed to guess it with just nine squares stitched!

For this week’s emblem, you’ll need 310, 3857, and white . And of course, the chart.

(Sorry for the brevity of this newsletter — I’ve been fighting with Tiny Letters to insert images in the newsletter and lost, so I had to go write it out in html (totally NOT my strong point) and getting these two images to work is good enough for me this week, LOL)

Happy Crafting,
Jess 😀 😀

Week 7: Kadi 55-30’s Blessing

Happy Monday!

After last week’s multi-choice, multi-typoed (sorry!) Lost Sector emblem, I decided to go simple this week. Two colors, easy design. That’s right, it’s Kadi 55-30’s Blessing. The colors you’ll need this week are 825 and 973. But really, if you have blue and yellow, you should be set to go.

The chart!

To those of you who joined the newsletter this week, welcome! I know some of you might be new to cross-stitching so I want to point in the direction of a tutorial to help you get started. If you still need help, you can drop me a line via email or Twitter. (My Instagram notifs tend to get buried and I miss a lot of them.)

If you’re following the original chart, your first row is complete! Only seven more to go. (Only? LOL) As you know, the #destiny2cal hashtag is magical and amazing. So, please continue to check it out and tag your posts with it, so we can encourage each other. And, if you’re cool with me including your pic with a link back to your work, just drop me a line and let me know. (I know I’ve asked this before, but there are a lot more people who joined — I was horribly disorganized so I’m going to try to keep a list going from this point.)

Week 6: Lost Sectors

Happy Monday!

I have to admit that I’m sort of cheating this week. Kind of. I offered to make a cross-stitching piece for a charity giveaway and decided, hey, I could bump up the timeline (this was originally going to be week 8’s emblem) and save my brain from having to do another emblem within the week. (Four of the same kind was, well, boring, LOL)

So, you guys have options this week! Freedom! Pick out your favorite — make one! Make them all! (But know that in terms of the final layout, I only have one Lost Sector emblem in the piece so you would have three extra emblems floating around if you did decide to make them all.)

Because I shifted the order around slightly, the colors for this week weren’t on the massive list I sent out a few weeks ago. The colors you’ll need are:

Io (red): 606, 312, 814, 3047
Earth (brown): 434, 610, 3371, 3047
Nessus (green): 166, 3347, 3345, 3047
Titan (blue): 518, 312, 311, 3047

The chart (I uploaded the red one, but the pattern is exactly the same for all of the Lost Sector emblems). The first number is the top color, the second is the middle, the third is the bottom color, the last color is the symbol itself.

I also have the colors needed for the next six weeks: 166, 310*, 334, 471, 791, 825, 833, 973, 996*, 3746, 3755, 3857, white*. If you want to see if you might have some colors kicking around your place that are similar to the colors needed, you can always try using an online color chart, like this one.

*These colors have been used in previous weeks.

As always, you guys continue to inspire me as I look at the #destiny2cal tag. Seriously, I’m so glad there are a group of us working together on this looooong project. It helps keep the creative train running! 😀 This week’s pic is from crossroadssiren. And remember to keep checking out that hashtag!

Week 5: Pushing Forward

Happy Monday!

I promise you, I didn’t pick this week’s emblem because Wolfenstein 2 came out last Friday. At least, not on a conscious level. But, really, when you look at it, it kind of says “Wolfenstein” with the color scheme, LOL

20171030_171630

I’m sorry. There is more white stitching on white aida this week. Use good lighting and try not to cry and shout when you inevitably stitch the same square because you couldn’t see the stitch you made previously. Or maybe that’s just me who does that.

If you notice, there is a slight difference between my pic and the chart — that’s because I am tinkering with the charts until I send them out to the masses. I’ll go back and update mine (maybe), but the sun is going down and I’m not battling daylight to take more pictures.

Hey look! I didn’t forget the chart this week!

As always, I love seeing all of the progress you all are making. And I’m always excited to see how each of you are making this project your own — whether you’re stitching them together or individually, adding or changing colors that you prefer, or stitching them out of order, I love it.

Week 4: Adventurous Spirit

Happy Monday!

If you follow me on Twitter, then you know, despite the hour, I didn’t forget about the newsletter; it’s just been an interesting past few days. But, I got through it and now it’s onto the emblem. This week is Adventurous Spirit, or the bane of my existence, as I started calling it.

It’s really not that difficult of a pattern, but I started off using an old version of the chart. Then as I started testing it, I realized one of the colors the program picked was super wrong. (Looked wonderful on the screen — in real life? Not so much.) Basically, I became an expert in frogging over the weekend.

Anyway, there is a color update for this week that wasn’t in the list I sent out a couple of weeks ago, 869. But, any light brown that shows enough contrast against the orange will work. The other colors you’ll need are white, 976, and 3033. And yes, the order of my emblems are different than what you have. Oops. That’s what happens when I suddenly decide to change my mind about which emblem to make for the week, LOL.

Be sure to check out/use the #destiny2cal posts. They are all amazing. This week’s pic comes from vycee25 over on Instagram. If you are alright with me posting your pic in the newsletter, let me know if you haven’t already done so.
