I’ll be honest, I’m going to probably be using most of the same contents that were in last year’s intro newlsetter. Anything new will be bolded so it makes it a little easier to read what is new for this year.
You’ve made the wise decision to take part of the Destiny 2 Emblem Craft-a-long, you clever person, you! Just in case you’re wondering what in the world you signed yourself up for, we will have 48 different emblems patterns that you can create to make the world a more geeky place.
Each Friday, I’ll be sending out a newsletter with the pattern and color key of an emblem from Destiny 2. For those of you who are planning to stitch along, please be aware that I’m going to be using DMC colors since that’s what I stitch with. (I’ll be talking more about colors later on.)
This year’s set of patterns is going to be a lot more difficult than last year’s. If things like half-stitches, quarter-stitches, backstitching, and French knots scare you, then you may want to grab your security blanket before jumping into this project. I will be linking to various tutorials if the pattern includes different kind of stitches to try and make this project as painless as possible.
So, for those of you who want to make one large cross-stitching project, you will need a 20″ x 24″ piece of 14 count aida cloth. Each emblem will be a 2″ square. So, with the border the final project will measure approx 14″ x 18″, assuming you’re using 14 count cloth.
Concerning the colors, well, for those of you who don’t have a ton of different shades of threads — have fun going to the craft store! Seriously, with all the different styles of the emblems, there are A LOT of different colors. However, if you have a color that’s close to the pattern already, please, feel free to use that color instead of what is on the color key.
Here are the colors for the next three weeks:
310, 321, 996, 3768, 3819, 3852, white
I’ll try to update the color list ahead of time, but if you were part of the craft-a-long last year, you know that it’s not going to happen consistently, LOL.
Part of the fun of taking part of a craft-a-long club is to show off your progress, see how others in the group are doing, and basically be like, “Come on! You can stitch that emblem! You’ve got this!” If you want, feel free to use the hashtag #Destiny2CAL on whatever social media floats your boat and don’t forget to check that hashtag out too.
The legal stuff. Don’t sell this pattern. The charts can be used for personal use only. You can read about Bungie’s rules concerning intellectual property here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/45842
