Oh so boo-tiful

So, I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween. The candy is awesome, the idea of things jumping out at me is not. (Seriously, I don’t even like going through the graveyard part in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.)

Still, I wanted to try to make some kind of pattern for the spooky season and, after thinking and thinking and thinking, inspiration finally struck: it was time to make some Boos from Super Mario.

Of course, I went the old school, Super Mario World (my second favorite Mario game ever) route when the Circling Boo Buddies were first introduced.

So, for this pattern, the chart is set up to fit in a six inch hoop perfectly. Any smaller and your Boos won’t fit, any bigger and you’ll just have a bigger outside border. Just start in the middle on the top, about three rows down and you’ll be golden!

You’ll also need black, red, and white thread. Or you can forgo the white thread and get…glow in the dark thread!

Amazing!

Now, I will warn you that while the effects are pretty awesome, working with this stuff is not the easiest thing. I used DMC’s glow in the dark thread (E 940). And I’ll warn you right now if you hit a snag or get a knot in your thread, it’s pretty much…

So, take your time, be patient, and don’t pull too hard. I had more than one strand break because I underestimated my strength (or overestimated the strength of the thread). But, if you can get through it, your patience will be rewarded.

Now, the chart has nine ghosts, but I ended up only putting eight on there. I stitched the outline of the ninth one and Babe and I decided that the gap between Boos was big enough. However, if you love all things Boo, then you may want to go ahead and stitch the last one.

Chart is here!

As always, let me know if you tackle this! I love to see y’all making awesomeness and happy crafting! 😀 😀
