A few weeks ago, when Babe and I were watching The Punisher, an idea for a cross-stitch popped in my head.
I wanted to make the Punisher skull.
That, in and of itself, is nothing surprising. But, I also knew I wanted to use glow in the dark thread’s amazing power to do something so nerdy, so awesome, that I could hardly wait to start the project.
Laziness settled in and it took me a couple of weeks to actually make the chart, but once I did, it was off to the races. Less than a week later, this sucker was done.
Originally, I had made the skull look like the normal Punisher logo. It wasn’t until the last night of working on it that I decided to make it look more like the Netflix Punisher logo (which I think looks so much better).
So, if you want to make your own, this is what you’ll need:
Black aida cloth (I used 14 count, but you can use whatever)
DMC colors: white and E940 (Please note, do not use B5200. It is too bright and you can see the difference in white tones which spoils the glow in the dark surprise)
(The squares marked white is for the glow in the dark thread. The green squares marks where the white goes. I know it seems a little confusing, but the idea was that I wanted anything that glows to be in white so I had an idea of what it would look like in the dark. Also, if you don’t want to include the text, then just ignore the green squares and stitch everything with the glow in the dark thread.)
If you decide to tackle this, I’d love to know. If you have any questions, please let me know. As always, happy crafting!
